Introduction
Forgotten Scrolls Game is a game where players go on a fictional fantasy adventure through text. It is played online at this forum in the Games board. It is similar to Dungeons and Dragons but technically a different game.
Basic Rules and Guidelines
In each game one person is a Game Master and the others are players also known as characters. There must be a Game Master and at least one Player. Atypical game should have anywhere from 2 to 7 players but there is no limit.
Game Master
The Game master controls most things that happen in the game. The only thing the Game Master does not control is what each individual players does.
The Game master can choose how he will decide the outcomes of events. He can use dice or simply make a decision. Also any rules that are not stated in the Rules must be made up by the Game Master. The Game Master has final say in all rules.
Players
The players respond to posts by the Game Master. A Player can only perform one action per turn. The players try to win the game by surviving until the end of the game. The players have to make decisions, solve situations and fight monsters throughout the game. The game is won by reaching and surviving to the end of the game.
Treasure
There must be treasure that can be found by the players. Treasure can be Gold, Items, weapons and anything.
Item Seller
Every once in a while the players should encounter an Item Seller where they can buy Potions, Tonics, and Elixirs for Gold.
How to Play
The Game Master posts a description of a event and the Players reply with their responses to how their Characters solve the event. Then the Game Master posts if they were successful or not.
This pattern continues throughout the game. You can even have battles with monsters.
An Example of the beginning of a game.
Game Master Posts: You start in a small farming town. There are a few buildings and large fields of grain. The sun is high in the clear blue sky. There is a trail leading to a forest to the east and a trail leading to a cave to the west. What direction does your party go?
Player 1 Posts: I think we should go east toward the forest.
Player 2 Posts: Yes east.
Player 1 Posts: We go east toward the forest.
Game Master Posts: You travel down a dusty road until reaching the forest. The forest is dark and cold. Eventually you encounter a goblin. The goblin engages in a battle. The goblin attacks Player 1. Player 1 looses 10 LifePoints. Player 1's LifePoints is now 130. What do you do next.
Player 1 Posts: I use a small potion.
Game Master Posts: Player 1 uses a small potion and his life is now at 140.
Player 2 Posts: I attack the goblin with my sword. 30 Attack.
Game Master Posts: Player 2 attacks the goblin with his sword and the goblin looses 30 Lifepoints. The goblins life is now 20.
The game continues in this style until all the Players die or the Game Master says they win. The end of the game has some significance like saving a princess or finding a magical sword.
Character Rules
Using the Points received from new level
When you reach a new level you can either distribute the points among your stats or save them for later. The reason you would want to save up points is to gain a new Skill or Spell. Since Skills and Spells
cost more than the points received you will have to save points from multiple levels to obtain a new skill. The points used to obtain the skill are then gone.
